The locally-owned men’s hair salon Keep It Cut, notable for its unique membership format, is hosting the grand opening of its Desert Ridge Marketplace location on April 25. The new location at 2100 North Tatum Boulevard, Suite 16-1006 will serve as the chain’s flagship shop, with 100% of revenue from the business’ first week (April 25 to May 1) being donated to the Human Services Campus in Phoenix and its 16 partners, aiding unhoused individuals with shelter and resources.

“We wanted to provide Valley residents a men’s hair salon that offers the flexibility that men want,” said Jacob Meltzer, co-owner of Keep it Cut. “Our shop provides the perfect opportunity to maintain the clean-cut look at all times for an affordable price.”

Keep It Cut offers a subscription-based membership model offering clients the choice of a single haircut for $21 or an unlimited monthly membership for $32. Clients under the monthly membership plan can redeem their unlimited haircuts at any one of the Valley’s nine different locations. Open seven days a week, both walk-ins and appointments scheduled via the Keep It Cut website or app are accepted.

The new location is the local chain’s largest location to date, featuring 2,100-square-feet of modern, industrial space with an exposed ceiling and concrete floor. There will be 12 haircut stations, with four overlooking the shop from a stylish mezzanine loft. Additionally, the exterior will feature a large-scale mural by local artist Timothy Brennan and Keep It Cut’s signature garage door-style entrance.

Keep It Cut has participated in charitable ventures prior to its partnership with the Human Services Campus, with notable past activity including:

  • Providing haircuts at a fundraising event for one-n-ten, an Arizona nonprofit serving LGBTQ youth
  • Shaving heads at Thirsty Lion Gastropub for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, benefitting cancer research for children
  • Offering haircuts to brokers at Brokers for Kids, donating 100% of proceeds to youth empowerment nonprofit Boys Hope Girls Hope

The 13-acre Human Services Campus has serviced individuals experiencing homelessness since its inception in 2005. People experiencing homelessness move through the campus’s welcome center, assessing their immediate needs and how the organization can best assist them. Services such as physical, mental, and dental care, legal consultation, employment coaching and support, free meals and shelter are only some of the plethora available to the Human Services Campus’ clients.

“We are truly grateful for the financial support from Keep It Cut and for their generous donation of time and talents for the people experiencing homelessness that we serve,” said Human Services Campus Executive Director Amy Schwabenlender. “Addressing the challenges of homelessness requires a collective effort and Keep It Cut is an important partner in that effort. “” Read full story here
